Present at the call to order were Senators Therriault, Wielechowski, and Chair French. SB 168-PASSENGER VESSEL TAX CREDIT CHAIR FRENCH announced the consideration of SB 168. 2:09:58 PM SENATOR THERRIAULT said that regarding discussion the previous day regarding building infrastructure in communities, it won't be possible to apply the funds in question to the communities. Testimony had been heard about support for the bill from communities that will benefit from the tax; whether or not passage of the bill will result in communities imposing their own head taxes, the will of the people is still honored. Having a better understanding of the math, he is comfortable forwarding the bill to the floor. He then made a motion to move SB 168 from committee with individual recommendations and attached fiscal note(s). There being no objection, the motion carried. SENATOR WIELECHOWSKI said that he won't object to moving the bill to the floor but he thinks it is unconstitutional and will vote no on ultimately passing it. There being no further business to come before the committee, Chair French adjourned the meeting at 2:12:45 PM.
